January 22, 2010...There's No Place Like Home...

Today we woke up to watch the sunrise and the fishing boats just like all the other mornings since we've been here. However, this morning presented a new surprise. Just off shore were about three whales breeching! It was one of the most powerful acts of nature I have ever seen. It was so amazing to watch these huge animals come up out of the water and splash back down over and over! Luckily my dad just bought a new camera that takes action shots and can zoom into X40. We were able to take some really dynamic photos (but they're not edited yet, so you can't see them...I promise to get them up ASAP).
After the whales finished their show we headed down to the pool for our last day of poolside fun. Just like all of the other days it was blue skies, sunshine and a perfect view. However, just like this morning we got a little surprise. Around noon the clouds came in so Greg and I headed up to the room to play a fun new game my dad brought, Bananagrams. We were joined by my parents and enjoyed some wine (whisky for the boys) and lots of laughs. The Eddys however, were determined to enjoy happy hour poolside, rain or shine! And that's exactly what it did...it RAINED! It never rains in Cabo in January. It was however, over very quickly!
For dinner we went to the Bistro. Again...YUMMY, YUMMY food! We also celebrated my birthday a night early with a piece of Pastel de Tres Leches (Three Milk Cake) which is the "favorite birthday cake of Mexico." (I MUST find this recipe!!!) Then it was off to the Lobby Bar for a round at happy hour to top off the vacation!
It truly was a PERFECT day! With that said all day I thought about my friends and my life in Missoula. All day I teetered on the edge of wanting to stay in Mexico and wanting to go home. At the end of the day, for me, there is no place like home!
